Subs Support
Need help? Here are answers to common questions.
How does Subs decide who comes on?
While the clock runs, every available outfield player earns an equal share of the time on the field. Subs compares that share with the minutes each player has actually played, and suggests bringing on the players owed the most time for the players who have played the most. The goalie stays in goal and is left out of the rotation.
How often should I sub?
Each team has a game format, set from the team screen. Under Subs, choose Max bench to set the longest anyone sits out (5 minutes to start with) and Subs works out how often to sub. Choose Schedule to sub a set number of players every few minutes, or Coach decides to make every call yourself. During a game, the Players per sub control on the Next sub card changes how many swap each time, and Game options (the … button) switches the sub timing for that game.
A player arrived late, or got hurt
For a late arrival, open Game options and tap Player arrived. They are owed their share of the time from when they arrived. For an injury or an early pick-up, tap the player and choose Out for the game. Subs adjusts the next suggestions either way.
I made a sub that wasn't suggested
Tap any player to sub them straight away, or to pick exactly who swaps with them. The minutes are tracked as played, and the following suggestions even things out.
We're playing with an extra player
Use the Mercy − and + buttons in the On the field header. + brings on the bench player owed the most time with nobody coming off; − takes off the outfield player who has played the most. Sub timing is worked out again either way.
Our clock doesn't match the referee's
Use the minus and plus buttons beside the time left to take off or add 30 seconds. Playing time isn't changed, only when the half ends.
I didn't hear the sub reminder
Subs buzzes before a sub is due and plays a sound when it is. The sound, the warning time and Play on silent are in the team's game format, under Alerts; the speaker button beside Pause mutes the sound for one game. With the phone locked, the reminder comes as a notification, so allow notifications when Subs asks (or in Settings > Notifications > Subs). A notification sound follows the ring/silent switch, so with the phone on silent it only vibrates.
